If you are interested in lodging on Big Island Hawaii near volcano, Puna is obviously your first choice.
There are plenty of B&B's, Inns, cottages and other vacation rentals in the Volcano Village area and in the surrounding subdivisions like Mauna Loa Estates and Ohia Estates.
The most high-end Inn is the Chalet Kilauea, which is located in the forest about 1 mile from the National Park. Most rooms have a private hot tub.
Because of the higher elevation you should expect a cooler climate and a lot more rain than in the lower areas of Puna. There is usually also fog in the afternoon.
Make sure you are booking your accommodation well in advance, as there is a lot of demand, especially during holidays. You should also check for referrals or reviews of the different lodging options, because some of these places can be quite moldy.
