Fuku-Bonsai Cultural CenterThe Fuku-Bonsai Cultural Center offers a beautiful collection of indoor miniature trees (specializing in Dwarf Schefflera True Indoor Bonsai). David Fukumoto, president and founder of Fuku-Bonsai is actually a pioneer in True Indoor Bonsai plants. His second specialty is the breeding of Hawaiian Micro-Lobsters, which are smaller than a dime. These crustaceans can live in the right environment for up to 20 years and have become very popular for desktop aquariums. Fuku-Bonsai has been around since 1962 and if you have any questions about indoor bonsai or just like to see this excellent collection, it is definitely worth visiting. The Kazamura Lava Tubes are actually the longest and deepest system in the world, in which you will see Stalactites, Stalagmites and Flowstone. You can choose between a Scenic Walking Tour (1+ hrs.), which is easy and an Adventure Tour (3+ hours), which is longer and physically more challenging. If you want to participate you will have to wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Flashlights, hard hats and gloves will be provided. Ages 5 and up. Hilo Coffee MillThe Hilo Coffee Mill is with 24 acres the largest Coffee Farm on the windward side of the Big Island. It is also processing coffee grown in other parts of Puna, Hamakua and Kau. Coffee business has a great history in Puna, but when sugar cane offered better income, coffee was put on the back burner. Since the recline in sugar cane demand, small coffee companies have appeared with great service and great tasting coffee.
